DASA-2016
DASA 2016 – The DASA (Direct Admission of Students Abroad) is a scheme under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) for the admissions of Foreign Nationals in IIITs, NITs, SPAs and other Central and Premier Technical Institutes in India. Under DASA 2016 admission, foreign national includes Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI). These candidates are selected on the basis of SAT score for admission in various Engineering and Architecture courses, as offered by the participating institutes. The National Institute of Technology, Srinagar, is managing DASA 2016 admission procedure. It released the application form for DASA 2016 on 1 April 2016. SHIATS 2016 Eligibility Criteria
Education Qualification : Candidate must have passed the 10+2 examination or equivalent with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry / Bio-technology / Computer Science/Biology from any system of education as recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Residential Requirement : Candidates must be a Foreign Nationals/ Persons of Indian Origin who have completed the qualifying examination in any country (including India) OR Candidate must be an Indian Nationals who have completed his/her Class 11 & 12 or equivalent from outside India.
Age Limit: Date of birth of the candidate must be on or after 1 October 1991.
DASA 2016 Application Form
The application forms of DASA 2016 has been issued online. The DASA application process requires candidates to register on the official website by creating an account and then proceed to pay the requisite fee to complete the application process. Candidates are not required to submit hard copies of their application or any other supporting documents. However, it is essential that candidates send in their SAT subject test score to the coordinating institute i.e the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar.
DASA 2016 Application Fee
Candidates are required to pay an application fee of US$ 3750 along with the application form. This amount is towards the first semester Tuition Fee (US$ 3500) and a non-refundable registration fee of US$ 250. Foreign Nationals of SAARC countries, however, will be eligible for a Tuition Fee Waiver of 50%, provided they have passed the qualifying examination from one of the eight SAARC countries.
DASA 2016 Selection Procedure
Candidates will be selected for admissions strictly on the basis of their SAT Subject Test Scores that is received by the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Srinagar. A Merit List will be prepared which will enlist the names of all the eligible applicants on the basis of their total SAT Subject Test scores. In the case of candidates who have made multiple attempts, the best of the candidate’s valid individual subject scores will be taken into consideration.
DASA 2016 Seat Allotment Procedure
Allotment of seats to candidates will be done strictly on the basis of their valid SAT Subject Test scores and the choices that have been indicated by them. Eligible candidates will be allotted a seat in one of the participating institutes in the order of their merit and the priority of choices that have been given by him/her. An applicant whose name is placed higher on the merit list will be given higher priority in the allotment of a course/institution of his/her choice. Selected Foreign Nationals should, however, hold a valid student visa issued by the Indian Missions abroad, as applicable to their category.
